PLAINS – Jackie L. “Jack” Osborne, age 65, passed away early Sunday morning, June 18, 2017, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
He was born February 26, 1952, at Liberal, Kansas, the son of Alfred “Jack” and Bertha Mae (Lynde) Osborne. As a young boy he attended the Plains school system, graduating from Southwestern Heights High School in 1971. He later attended Seward County Community College. A longtime resident of Plains, having lived in Salina for sixteen years, he was a salesman for Stanion Electric and a truck driver for many area farmers and ADM.
He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Plains. He enjoyed golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, umpiring baseball games, construction projects, softball, and announcing basketball and football games for Southwestern Heights High School.
On November 5, 1976, he married Jean Ann Volden at Liberal, Kansas. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Alex Osborne and wife Amy of Abilene, Kansas; a daughter, Jennifer Hooten of Plains; his mother, Bertha Mae Osborne of Meade; and five grandchildren, Tyler Kichner, Tabatha Kichner, Jackson Osborne, Jesse Osborne, and Evan Osborne. He is preceded in death by his father, Jack Osborne.
Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, June 22, 2017, at the Plains United Methodist Church. Cremation has taken place. Private family inurnment will take place at the Plains Cemetery, Plains, at a later date.
The family would welcome memorials to the American Cancer Society in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
