Jack Schultz

Jack Schultz, age 88, of Johnson, Kansas died Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at his home in Johnson, Kansas. He was born May 19, 1927 in Dodge City, Kansas, the son of John Henry and Bertha Mary (Peppercorn) Schultz.

Jack grew up in Spearville and graduated from Spearville High School. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. Jack moved to Johnson in 1949 and began farming and ranching. He married Joyce Lee Wideman in 1949. He also worked at Western Feedyard and Johnson Co-op Fertilizer Department while also custom farming. He enjoyed cooking and helping with benefit dinners for the community. Jack was a member of the St. Bernadette Catholic Church, and VFW Post #3684 in Johnson and Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post # in Ulysses.

He is survived by his son, John Schultz of Golden, Colorado; two grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Jack is preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Anthony and Frank Schultz.

Graveside service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, July 11, 2015 at Holy Cross Cemetery in Windthorst, Kansas with military graveside rites conducted by the Kansas Military Funeral Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, July 10, 2015 and Saturday, July 11, 2015 from 9:00 AM until 11:00 AM at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson. Memorial contributions may be given to the Stanton County Community Foundation in care of Garnand Funeral Home, PO Box 715, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
