Jack Rinehart, 96, died Friday, May 8, 2020 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. He was born December 8, 1923 in Kismet, KS, the son of Ralph “Peanut” and Margaret “Pete” (Ontjes) Rinehart.

Jack Graduated from Kismet High School, and he married Wilma “Vee” McVey on February 12, 1955 in Kismet. They were married for 65 years. She survives.

Jack worked for 30 plus years as the Maintenance Director at Southwestern Hights High School.
Jack served in the Army Air Corps during WWII, where he obtained the rank of Corporal. He was a former Kismet City Councilman, he volunteered for many community events, and spent his vacations harvesting wheat. He was an avid woodworker, coin collector, and mowed his own lawn until the age of 96. Jack loved his family and friends, and his grandchildren and great grandchildren were very special to him.

Mark Rinehart and his wife Carol of Edmond, OK

Jackie Bruce and her husband Tony of Princeton, TX

11 Grandchildren and 11 Great Grandchildren

Jack was preceded in death by his parents, sisters Verabelle, Marjorie and Deloris, and an infant granddaughter, Katie.

There will be no public visitation.

Funeral Services will be 11am Tuesday, May 12, 2020 at the Kismet United Methodist Church with Reverend Terry Mayhew presiding.
Burial to follow at the Plains Cemetery.
The family understands the current situation, and appreciates your thoughts and prayers if you cannot attend.
Attendance at services will follow CDC guidelines and the Governor’s re-opening phase 1 guidelines, in that 10 or more people are allowed if social distancing can be maintained. This is for safety and the best interest of everyone’s health; we encourage use of social media to offer condolences and support to the family in lieu of attending.
