Ivan LeRoy Perkins, age 71, died September 2, 2016, in rural Morton County Kansas. He was born February 14, 1945, in Rolla, Kansas the son of LeRoy Thomas and Bessie (Millemon) Perkins.
Ivan grew up in Rolla and graduated from Rolla High School; he then continued his education at Garden City Community College. Ivan served in the United States Army as a Military Policeman and dog trainer. He was a farmer and also custom farmed and harvested. As a mechanic, Ivan liked to restore old cars and farm equipment.
Ivan married Janet McCarty in Liberal, Kansas in 1982.
He is survived by his wife, Janet of their home; daughters, Crystal Perkins of Texas, and Paula Perkins of Colorado; brother, Calvin Perkins of Rolla, Kansas; sister, Sharon Robertson of Garden City, Kansas; and one grandson, Evan Perkins.
Ivan was preceded in death by his father, LeRoy Perkins, and mother, Bessie McCalip.
Memorial service will be Thursday, September 8, 2016, at 2:00 PM at the Emmanuel Baptist Church in Rolla with Pastor Marcus Light officiating. Military Rites will be conducted by the Kansas Military Funeral Honors team. Inurnment will be at a later date. Memorials may be given to Rolla Hope in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S. Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
