Iva Wanice Franke, 92, of Liberal, KS passed away on Saturday May 11, 2019 at the Liberal Good Samaritan Center.
She was born on November 16, 1926 to John and Edna (McAdams) Kennedy at Campo, CO.
On January 15, 1957 she married Charles M. “Peanut” Franke at Hutchinson, KS; he preceded her in death on April 17, 2009.
Iva was a graduate of Hooker High School at Hooker, OK. After high school she went on to attend Barclay College in Haviland, KS; where she completed her Registered Nursing Degree. She was an RN for 40 plus years working with Dr. Campion for 20-plus years and then with Dr. Estrada until retiring in 1984. While nursing she also owned a yarn shop, “Kits-n-Knits” for many years. Iva enjoyed gardening, knitting, embroidery, and loved to help others. She was a lifetime member of the National Nurses Association.
Iva is survived by her Sister, Ellen Munro of Hooker, OK and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, Chester Kennedy and John Kennedy; two sisters, Luella Kennedy and Ninetta Ramsey.
Viewing will be 1:00 pm to 7:00 pm Thursday May 16, 2019 with the family present to greet friends from 5:00 pm -7:00 pm at Miller Mortuary, Liberal, KS.
Funeral Services will be 10:00 am Friday May 17, 2019 at the Miller Mortuary Chapel with Pastor Chuck Scroggs, officiating.
Cremation will follow the service and a private family inurnment will be held at a later date.
