Iris Gustafson

Iris Gustafson, age 89, of Ulysses, Kansas passed away on Thursday, December 25, 2014 at The Legacy at Park View, Ulysses, Kansas. She was born May 6, 1925 in West Plains, Missouri, the daughter of Fritz and Macie Stein.

Iris lived in West Plains, Missouri until 1934 when the family moved to Iowa. She graduated from Stanton High School in 1942. Iris retired in 1989 and she and Don moved to Fairfield Bay, Arkansas where they lived at The Terraces condominium complex and she served as bookkeeper for their condo association. She and Don were members of Faith Lutheran Church. Iris was instrumental in establishing the charity thrift store, Wear and Share in Fairfield Bay and volunteered there for many years.

She is survived by one son; Larry “Gus” Gustafson and wife Jeani of Ulysses, Kansas, two daughters; Joyce Betts and husband Jim of Ashburn, Virginia and Donna Nissen and husband Ron of Kansas City, Missouri, six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren .

Iris was preceded in death by her husband Don Gustafson in 1999.

A Celebration of Life gathering will be held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, Kansas from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Timothy Lutheran Church, 425 NW R.D. Mize Rd, Blue Springs, Missouri 64014 on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be given to The Legacy at Park View or Park View Assisted Living, Ulysses, Kansas in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
