Irene Ford

Irene Ford, age 90, passed away Friday, December 17, 2021, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.

She was born October 24, 1931, at rural Kismet, Kansas, the daughter of Noah and Lydia (Miller) Stoll.  As a young girl, she attended school in Kismet, graduating from Kismet High School in 1950.  On October 10, 1956, Irene married Verlyn Taylor and the couple made their home in Holdridge, Nebraska.  Several years later they moved to Liberal, Kansas.  On August 10, 1985, she married Clarence M. Ford at Meade.  After moving to Meade, she workded at the Lone Tree Retirement Center as an activities director for several years along with delivering Meals on Wheels.

She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, the Beam Senior Center, also singing with the Golden Notes, and a church bible study group.  She enjoyed playing the piano, singing, watching sporting events including the Kansas City Chiefs football and the University of Kansas Jayhawks basketball, and spending time with her family and friends.

She is survived by her sons, Kerry Taylor of Lincoln, Nebraska, Terry Taylor and wife Shari of Goodland, Kansas, and Randy Taylor of Anchorage, Alaska; three sisters, Kaye Classen of Meade, Iola Miller of Albany, Oregon, and Rose Eck of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Ryan Taylor and wife Hannah, and Garrett Taylor and companion Kami Miller; and a great-grandson, Cole Taylor.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Clarence M. Ford on September 24, 2014; her parents; four brothers, Roy, Harry, Lavern, Clyde and Henry Stoll; and two sisters, Ruth Trahern and Betty Friesen.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 21, 2021, at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Monday at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Interment will follow in the Graceland Cemetery, Meade.

The family would welcome memorials to the Beam Senior Center or the Samaritans Purse in care of the funeral home.
