Iona Fern Graber, 98, of Liberal, passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2020 at Wheatridge Care Park.

She was born on August 9, 1921 to William and Nellie (Taylor) Peek at Fowler, KS.

One December 3, 1938 she married Elmer H. Graber at Meade, KS; he preceded her in death in 1999.

Iona was a graduate of Hugoton High School. Iona and Elmer moved to Ulysses, KS in 1952 due to Elmer’s job with Hugoton Production; they moved back to Liberal in 1974. Iona worked at Gibson’s Discount Center in Liberal. She enjoyed sewing, tending to her flower beds, and loved being with her family. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Liberal where she was active in the United Methodists Women’s Group.

Iona is survived by her Son, David Graber and wife Robinette of Ulysses, KS; Daughter, Wantha Johnson and friend Arthur Tilford of Liberal, KS; Eight Grandchildren, 21 Great Grandchildren and 9 Great Great Grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, Son, Larry Wayne Graber, Grandson, Lawrence David Moye, Three Brothers and Four Sisters.

In accordance with current CDC and KS Dept. of Health recommendations, private funeral services will be held at the First United Methodist Church, with Pastor Keith Anglemyer, officiating.

Burial will take place in the Liberal City Cemetery.
