Ida May Meyers
Joe Denoyer - June 17, 2020 10:33 am
Ida May Meyers was born at home on December 8, 1944, in Garden city, Kansas, and departed this life at the nursing home in Ulysses, Kansas, at the age of 75 years, 6 months and 8 days. She was the fifth of twelve children living beyond infancy of Grant Otho Meyers, Sr., and Lula May Smith. Two other siblings were born between Grant Jr. in 1937 and Linda Lea in 1943 but died as infants. The girl was named Mary but the boy was unnamed. One other sister, Shirley Ann died at the age of two.
Ida graduated high school in Deerfield, Kansas in 1962. Ida married AB Bolton on February 14, 1963, at the First Baptist Church in Ulysses. They celebrated 57 years of marriage. They were very close all those years. His pet name for her was “Shorty” or “Honey”. She called him AB or “Honey”. He was her “Superman”; there was nothing in her eye’s AB couldn’t do.
Ida and AB adopted two infant boys, Clinton Eugene Bolton in 1968 and Clayton Edward Bolton in 1970.
Ida worked various jobs outside the home in her early years but mainly was a wife and mother. Her favorite hobby was doing genealogy work, making family albums, keeping journals and studying the scriptures. She loved to read, take pictures and videos. She liked to garden, collected bunnies and love listening to music. Ida loved spending time with her family.
In 1980, AB and Ida were baptized into The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. In 1981, they had their marriage sealed in the Manti, Utah Temple of the Church. That meant that their marriage would not end at death but also be in force after death. At the same time in 1981, their adopted sons were sealed to them for time and all eternity as if they had been born in the covenant as well. AB and Ida were active in the church all their lives until their health would no longer allow it. AB loved being a home teacher and Ida loved being a visiting teacher. They both entered the care home in March 2019.
Surviving Ida is her husband, AB; sons, Clinton and wife Laura, and Clayton; seven grandchildren, Desarae, Dylan, Wyatt, Cortlen, Chayden, Chaunee, and Cash; four brothers, Glenn Meyers and wife Martha of Deerfield, David Meyers and wife Janice of Deerfield, Donald Meyers of the Philippines, and Dale Meyers and wife Donna of Wisconsin; one sister, Martha Langley of Deerfield, Kansas; one great-grandson, Jameson; two great-granddaughters coming this Fall; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, four brothers, Leland, Dara, Grant Jr., and an unnamed brother; four sisters, Anetta Wyrick, Linda Dyson, Mary Meyers, and Shirley Meyers.
