Howard E. (Bud) Doerflinger, Jr.

Howard E. (Bud) Doerflinger, Jr., passed away Saturday evening, March 4, 2023, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.

He was born December 27, 1941, at El Dorado, Kansas, the son of Howard E. and Helen (Susie) (Smith) Doerflinger. As a young boy, he attended school in Wichita, graduating from Wichita West High School. He later attended Butler County Community College. In 1979, he moved to Meade where he worked for the High Plains Journal as a Production Manager and Art Director until his retirement in 1999.

He was a member of the Friends of the Meade State Lake, served as mayor of Meade, and was active in the Meade Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed art, fishing, woodworking, gardening, and spending time with his family in friends.

In 1972, he married Sherry Tacha in Wichita.

He is survived by a son Tim Doerflinger and his wife Jill of Wichita; and two grandchildren, Rachel and Jake.

He is preceded in death by his wife; parents; a brother, Fred Doerflinger; and an infant sister, Evelyn Doerflinger.

In accordance with his request, cremation has taken place and private family services will be held at a later date.

The family would welcome memorials to the Friends of the Meade State Lake in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, Kansas.
