Holly Cross Brown, age 76, of Ulysses, Kansas, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Western Prairie Care Home in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born July 29, 1945, in Davenport, Iowa, the daughter of Paul and Jean (McIntosh) Hoffman.
Holly grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Shawnee Mission East High School in 1963. She attended Baker University where she met and married Tom Cross and together they moved to Syracuse, Kansas. In 1971, Holly and Tom relocated to Ulysses, Kansas, to start Tom Cross Motors. They stayed in Ulysses until 1985 then moved to Clinton, Missouri. Tom passed away in 2010. Holly married Jerry Brown in August 2011; together they lived in Ulysses until her death. Holly was an active member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women, Florence Circle, played in the bell choir, assisted at Wednesday night church dinners and Funeral Dinners. She was a charter member of the Ulysses PEO, played Bridge and loved cooking for others.
Holly is survived by her husband, Jerry of the home; daughters, Teri Snodgrass and husband Sean of Branson, Missouri, Carrie Scallion of Bentonville, Arkansas; two step-daughters, Kim Irving and husband Dave of Ulysses, Kansas, Pam Annis and husband Jay of Ulysses, Kansas; one step-son, Kent Brown and wife Lorna of Topeka, Kansas; brother, Scott Hoffman and wife Vicki of Baxter Springs, Kansas; five grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, eight step-grandchildren, five step-great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Holly is preceded in death by her husband Tom Cross; parents, Paul and Jean; and one great-grandson, Khado Williams.
Memorial service will be held Thursday, March 10, 2022, at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating. Inurnment will be at a later date in Joplin, Missouri. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Loaves & Fishes or The ALS Association in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, KS 67880.
