Herschel G. West

Herschel G. West, 86, died Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2015 at Stevens County Hospital in Hugoton.

He was born April 7, 1929 to Grover and Ada (Hall) West in Quemado, N.M.

He married Joy L. Campbell on Oct. 24, 1952 in Albuquerque, N.M. She survives.

Survivors also include sons, Dwayne West and wife, Julie, Hugoton and Kevin G. West and wife, Melissa, Wichita; daughter, Paula L. Shapland and husband, Bill, Ulysses; brother, Otho West, Arkansas; sister, Vivian Vaugh, Montana; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Ricky West; four brothers: Weldon, Lewis, Curtis and Elmo West; three sisters: Shirley Campbell, Zona Gish and Inez Moore; and great-grandson, Brian Allen West.

• Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 7, 2015 at First Christian Church in Hugoton.

Burial will take place at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses.

Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday at the funeral home.
