Hermelinda Leyva De Gonzalez

Hermelinda Leyva De Gonzalez, age 68 of Johnson, Kansas died June 11, 2012 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital, Ulysses, Kansas. She was born April 29, 1944 in Coyachic, Chihuahua, Mexico, the daughter of Santiago and Manuela (Fernandez) Leyva.

Hermelinda grew up and spent most of her life in Mexico. She was a resident of Johnson, Kansas for the past 17 years. Hermelinda was a homemaker. She enjoyed dancing, cleaning and spending time in Mexico.

Hermelinda married Ventura Gonzalez in 1968 in Mexico, he survives.

Other Survivors include one son; Ramon Diaz and wife Martha of Ulysses, Kansas, one daughter; M. Ivonne Gonzalez and Husband Adrian of Johnson, Kansas, four brothers; Ramon Leyva, Jose Leyva and Monse Leyva, all of Mexico and Jesus Leyva of Johnson, Kansas, one sister; Rosa Leyva of Johnson, Kansas, five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.

Hermelinda is preceded in death by her parents; Santigo and Manuela Leyva.

Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, June 14, 2012 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Bernadette Catholic Church, Johnson, Kansas with Reverend Jim Dieker officiating. Burial will follow at the Stanton County Cemetery, Johnson, Kansas. Friends may call on Wednesday, June 13, 2012 from 10:00 a.m. until 8:00 p.m. with rosary beginning at 7:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, 605 W. North Ave, Johnson, Kansas 67855.
