Helen C. Reimer

Helen C. Reimer, age 95, passed away early Sunday morning, January 2, 2022, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
She was born March 27, 1926, at Meade, Kansas, the daughter of Isaac W. and Agatha (Classen) Loewen. As a young girl she attended grade school in rural Meade County. She later attended and graduated from the Meade Bible Academy in rural Meade. After her graduation she attended Tabor College and then became a teacher, teaching for the Copeland School District.
She was a charter member of the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. On September 5, 1943, she was baptized on confession of her faith. As a faithful member of the church, she served in many capacities, including as a Sunday School teacher, the Sewing Society, and AWANA. She also volunteered at the Et Cetera Shop in Liberal, Kansas, and at the blood mobile in Meade, as well as volunteering many years at Meade Elementary School listening to kids read. She also loved going to the Beam Senior Center for lunch every weekday. She enjoyed reading and spent many hours reading books.
On August 16, 1951, she married Arnold E. Reimer at Meade. Upon their marriage, the couple made their home in rural Meade farming. During their farming years, they maintained a dairy, beef cows, hogs, as well as raising crops. While assisting in the farming activities, she maintained the family house.
She is survived by her children, Vera Isaac and husband, Tim of Yukon, Oklahoma; Murray Reimer and wife, Ama of Hutchinson, Kansas; Leon Reimer and wife, Ethel of Meade, Kansas; a brother, Harold Loewen of Sun Lakes, Arizona; a sister, Hulda Classen of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; grandchildren, Michael Isaac and wife, Heather of Mustang, Oklahoma, Scott Isaac and wife Rachel of Rochester, Minnesota, Drew Reimer and wife, Rebekah of Kearneysville, West Virginia, Ethan Reimer of Hutchinson, Kansas, Travis Reimer of Moore, Oklahoma, and Tyler Reimer of Meade, Kansas; and three great-grandchildren, Katie Isaac and Ben Isaac of Mustang, Oklahoma, and Emily Isaac of Rochester, Minnesota.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Arnold E. Reimer; parents, Isaac W. and Agatha Loewen; three brothers, Ben, Dan, and Pete Loewen; two sisters, Rosella Bartel and Alvina Bartel; a granddaughter, Jill Isaac; and a great-grandson, Jonathan Isaac.
Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 8, 2022, at the Emmanuel Mennonite Church, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday with the family present from 5:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Interment will follow the funeral service in the Emmanuel Mennonite Church Cemetery, rural Meade.
