Hazel L. Winter, age 90, passed away Saturday afternoon, October 15, 2016, at her daughters home in Ozawkie, Kansas.
She was born October 6, 1926, in Missler, Kansas, the daughter of Richard Noel and Ida May Hickey.
As a young girl she attended the Meade school system, graduating from Meade High School in 1943. A lifetime resident of Meade, she was the co-owner of Ted’s Laundry & Cleaners for over sixty years.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene, the Professional Business Women, and the VFW Auxiliary. She enjoyed water skiing, golf, sewing, and spending time with her family and friends.
On January 24, 1946, she married Theodore A. “Ted” Winter in Ashland, Kansas. He preceded her in death on September 27, 2010.
She is survived by:
Two sons, Ted Winter and wife Rose of Meade, Kansas; David Winter of Meade, Kansas; a daughter, Janice Stone and husband Paul of Ozawkie, Kansas; two granddaughters Gretchyn Messalle and Francesca Winter; two grandsons Jay Stone and wife Mindy; Teddy Winter and wife Andrea; Seven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, Danny Lynn Winter; a grandson Ryan Del Stone and four brothers, Elmer, Carl, Earl, and Albert Hickey.
Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 22, 2016, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade with interment following at Graceland Cemetery. Friends may call on Friday, October 21st from 3:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
