Harry D. Fry, age 81, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Tuesday, July 18, 2017, at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, Kansas.  He was born February 18, 1936, in Wichita, Kansas, the son of Tom and Catherine (Ryan) Fry.

Harry grew up in Liberal and graduated from Liberal High School. He attended Bradley University School of Watch Making. Harry married Peggy Dunnam and they moved to Ulysses in 1963. He owned and operated Fry Jewelers along with his wife Peggy. After retiring from Fry Jewelers, he worked at Cott Electric, Smyth Oil and Gas, Frydays Services, Rick’s Lumber, and Grant County Cemetery District. Harry was a past member of Ulysses Rotary Club, Grant County Chamber of Commerce, and current member of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church, and Knights of Columbus.

He is survived by two sons, Todd Fry and wife Reńe of Ulysses, Kansas, and Kirk Fry of Gilbert, Arizona; two sisters, Janet Leaming and husband Ed of Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Elaine Langston and husband Ken of Bahamas; four grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren.

Harry is preceded in death by his parents; and wife Peggy in 2016.

Vigil and rosary service will be held Thursday, July 20, 2017, at 7:00 PM and funeral mass will be held at 9:00 AM on Friday, July 21, 2017, at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Peter Fernandez officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with Military Rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Friends may call Thursday, July 20, 2017, from 5:00 PM until 6:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the Harry Fry Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS 67880.
