Gwendolena “Gwen” Fisher, 97, passed away on Saturday. April 15, 2023 at her home near Liberal, KS.

She was born on November 1, 1925 to Montie and Fannie (Flanagan) Gourley at Lycan, CO.

On September 16, 1955 she married Donald John Fisher in Springfield, CO; he preceded her in death on December 4, 1993.

Gwen was a graduate of Walsh High School in Walsh, CO; class of 1945. She had worked as a Teller at the Bank in Springfield. Upon moving to Kansas she helped her husband farm their land west of Liberal. Gwen enjoyed crafting including crocheting and needle point. She also enjoyed watching tv soap operas and other programs. Gwen volunteered with the American Red Cross and assisted them with the local blood drives. She cherished spending time with her grandkids and attending the Flanagan family reunions. Gwen was a feisty woman who greatly loved her family. She was a long time member of the Friends Church in Liberal.

Gwen is survived by her Daughter, LeAnn Akins of Liberal, KS; Granddaughter, Stephanie McLaughlin of Liberal, KS; Two Great Grandchildren, Jason and Nevaeh Wilson of Liberal, KS; Sister, Betty Bryan of Walsh, CO; Two Sister in Laws, Olene Gourley of Walsh, CO, Susan Gourley of Lamar, CO; many Nieces & Nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her Parents, four Brothers, James Gourley, Don Gourley, Gene Gourley, and Harold Gourley; Sister in Law, Mary May Gourley; Brother in Law, Paul Bryan; Grandson in Law, James McLaughlin.

A private burial has taken place and a celebration of life may be announced at a later date.
