Gregory Gaskill, loving husband, devoted dad, and adoring papa, 72, of Wichita, Kansas died peacefully in his sleep going home to his precious Lord and Savior on December 27, 2024.
Remembering his passion for his faith, endearing love of his family, and dedication to his country is the legacy of Gregory Gaskill.
Greg was a dedicated dad to his three children, Stephanie, Gillian and Barry. From coaching, mentoring, to never missing an event, the reassurance that Greg could always be counted on to be there for his children was a constant and is what will leave a hole in their hearts forever. His unwavering dedication to his adored grandchildren, Zoey and Beckett, is the Papa Greg that we will never forget.
The loyalty Greg committed to his Catholic faith and his faithful family was also evident in his dedication to the family farm for over 45-years. Greg’s unfailing patriotism began early in life when he served his country in the armed forces. He was always proud of his country and passed this onto his family.
To the joy of his mother May Nadyne and father Gerald Gaskill, Greg was born in Hugoton, Kansas on August 22, 1952, into the growing Gaskill family, joining Gary, Joanne, Rod and soon after his baby brother Glen. He grew up on the family farm where he enjoyed many mischievous adventures with his siblings, which was preface to his adventurous spirit later in life.
After serving his country proudly, he returned to Hugoton and joined Janie Mothes in marriage on August 29, 1975, to begin building the loving legacy of their family in Hugoton. Greg and Janie raised their three children in their hometown of Hugoton, Kansas focusing on the significance of small town values; instilling in their children the importance of a strong work ethic, love of family and leaning on faith as a guide for life. Greg and Janie, his wife of almost 50 years, moved to Wichita, Kansas to be close to their children and beloved grandchildren. Greg was most fulfilled when he was surrounded by his close-knit family. From the sidelines to the backyard, Papa Greg was a constant, always cheering on his children and grandchildren to be their best. His adventurous spirit continued throughout his life, and he was always up for the next trip with his family from scuba diving in St. Thomas, horseback riding in Yellowstone or laying on the beach in the Bahamas, Greg was there with a big smile on his face.
Surviving family members include wife Janie, children Stephanie (Dwayne) Jakub, Gillian (Vince and children, Colan and Alayna) Macias, and Barry (Shannon) Gaskill and beloved grandchildren Zoey and Beckett Gaskill, all of Wichita, Kansas. Brother Rodney (Julie) and Glen (Vicki) Gaskill of Hugoton, Kansas, sister Joanne Gaskill of Gunter, Texas, and numerous nieces, nephews and friends throughout his communities.
Greg’s cherished family members, parents Gerald and Nadyne Gaskill, brother Gary Gaskill, and nephews, Brent and Brian Gaskill preceded him in death.
