Gordon Bane

Gordon Harris Bane, age 82, died Saturday, January 3, 2015 at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice Center in Wichita, Kansas. He was born August 3, 1932 in Liberal, Kansas, the son of John and Mildred (Gregory) Bane.
Gordon grew up in Hugoton, Kansas. He graduated from Hugoton High School in 1950 and continued his education at McPherson College, Washburn University and obtained his bachelor’s degree in business at Fort Hays State University. After his honorable discharge from the United States Army, he stopped in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to visit friends and met his future wife. Gordon married Dorothy Mae Moran on August 25, 1959 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. They returned to Hugoton where they engaged in farming. His relationship with Jesus was first and foremost in his life. Gordon was baptized when he was 11 years old and was an active member of the First Christian Church. He served as an elder, rarely missed a Sunday Service, attended Bible studies, and was a member of the choir. He was also on the Board of Trustees for American Rehabilitation Ministries and was a former Kiwanis’s member. Gordon was a kind-hearted person and enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s activities. He enjoyed traveling with his wife.
Survivors include two daughters, Debra O’Neal and husband Randy of Bentley, Kansas, and Donna Willoughby and husband Marc of Sedgwick, Kansas; and nine grandchildren, Keifer, Kyler, Kaden, Keaton, Konnor, Kason and Kensi O’Neal, Rebecca and Benjamin Willoughby.
Gordon is preceded in death by his parents and wife, Dorothy in 2009.
Funeral service will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 10, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Hugoton, Kansas with Pastor Heath Kelley officiating. Interment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery. Friends may call Friday, January 9, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Hugoton. Family will receive friends on Friday, January 9, 2015 from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the First Christian Church. Memorial contributions may be given to the First Christian Church in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 423 S Main, Hugoton, KS 67951.
A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Sedgwick, Kansas with Pastor Corey Mozey officiating.
