Gloria V. Aragon

Gloria V. Aragon, 75, of La Junta went home to be with the Lord surrounded by her family at the St. Anthony’s Care Center in Lakewood. She was born on April 16, 1938 to Bruno & Maria (Yslas) Vela. She married Alfredo “Freddie” Aragon on April 12, 1958 in Raton, New Mexico; he preceded her in death in 1982.

Gloria loved cooking for her family and enjoyed a variety of crafts; she was an avid Denver Bronco fan. Gloria was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, daughter, auntie, friend, and devoted wife. She will be sadly and forever missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends who loved her dearly.

She is survived by her children, Freddie (Susan) Aragon of Collinsville, OK; Joyce (Roberto Torres) Aragon of Liberal, KS; Dean Aragon of Liberal, KS; Teresa Aragon of Garden City, KS; Donna (Blaine) Wilson of Medford, OR; Gloria Aragon of Littleton, CO; and Angela (Jeff) Aragon-Mostek of Lakewood, CO; ten grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; brothers, Jesus, Edward, Tommy, and John Vela; and sisters, Lilly Vela, Kathy Ponce, Ermina Slaughter, Juanita Hinkhouse, and Georgia Atz. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and her brother, Max Vela.

Rosary: Monday, Dec. 9th at 9:30 a.m.

Funeral Mass: Monday, Dec. 9th at 10 a.m

Both services will be at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish

Visitation: Sunday, Dec. 8th from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. Peacock Memorial Chapel

Those wishing to make memorial contributions may make them to the American Diabetes Association, 2480 West 26th Avenue, Suite 120-B, Denver, CO, 80211, Catholic Charities, 4045 Pecos Street, Denver, CO, 80211, or to Hospice of your choice direct or through the funeral home.

Recitation of the Holy Rosary will be Monday, December 9, 2013 at 9:30 a.m. and Funeral Mass will follow at 10:00 a.m., both services at Our Lady of Guadalupe/St. Patrick Parish with Father Matthew Whorton officiating. Visitation will be Sunday, December 8, 2013 from 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at Peacock Memorial Chapel.
