Gloria Jean Mills

Gloria Jean Mills, age 75, died Tuesday, June 30, 2020, at Western Prairie Senior Living Community in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born on February 27, 1945, in Beaver, Oklahoma, the daughter of Roger Wilmot and Dorothy Bessie (Smith) Mills.

Gloria grew up in Forgan, Oklahoma. She attended the Forgan schools and graduated in 1963 from Forgan High School. She then continued her education at Northwestern State University in Alva, and graduated Nursing School at Woodward, Oklahoma in 1980a as a Licensed Practical Nurse. Gloria worked at the Beaver County Nursing Home and Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Liberal. She is a member of the First United Methodist Church. Gloria loved family gatherings and was the family historian. She treasured the time she was able to spend with her nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Gloria enjoyed listening to music, animals, flower gardening and animals.

Gloria is survived by her brothers, Barry W. Mills and wife Sharon of Longview, Texas, and Brady D. Mills and wife Darla of Woodward, Oklahoma; sisters, Judy K. Mills of Ulysses, and Linda L. Gardner and husband Roger also of Ulysses; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.

Gloria is preceded in death by her parents, Roger and Dorothy Mills; sisters, Barbara J. Mills and Glinda “Susie” Mills; niece Misty Mills, and nephew, Shad Mills.

Graveside service will be Friday, July 3, 2020, at 11:00 AM at Forgan Cemetery in Forgan, Oklahoma, with Wayne Moore officiating. Memorial contributions may be given to Gloria Jean Mills Memorial Fund in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave., Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
