Gladys M. Burton, age 100, passed away early Thursday morning, April 27, 2017, at her rural Fowler, Kansas, residence.
 
She was born August 19, 1916, at Owosso, Michigan, the daughter of Robert and Elizabeth (Koehn) Woodcock.  In 1939, she moved to Fowler, Kansas, graduating from Fowler High School as valedictorian in 1941.
 
On June 30, 1939, she married Paul Leroy Burton at Owosso, Michigan.  After their marriage they made their home in rural Fowler, where she helped her husband farm and raised their family.
 
She was a member of the Dodge City Church of the Nazarene and attended the Meade Church of the Nazarene; the Unit Farmers Wives; and the PTA.  She enjoyed gardening, sewing, candy, cake decorating, cooking, canning, reading, and spending time with her family and friends.
 
She is survived by:
A son,                                                Ed and Lisa Burton of rural Fowler, Kansas
 
Three daughters,                        Janice and Dwight Babcock of Vidor, Texas
                                                Betty and Teddy Boulet of Humble, Texas
                                                Ellen and Richard Warford of Kendallville, Indiana
 
Nine grandchildren                        Twenty-two great-grandchildren                        One great-great-grandchild
 
She is preceded in death by her husband; a son, William Alan Burton; her parents; five brothers; and four sisters.
 
Friends may call from 2:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday with the family present to greet friends at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.  Private family graveside services will be held at the Fowler Cemetery, Fowler.
 
The family would welcome memorials to the Fowler Public Library in care of the funeral home.
