Geraldine Rowden

Geraldine Rowden, a beloved member of the Hugoton community, passed away on May 3, 2024, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton, Kansas. She was born to Dewey and Mildred (Burrows) Moser on July 8, 1930, in Stevens County, Kansas. Geraldine was a woman of many talents and attributes that endeared her to all who knew her.

A woman of unwavering faith and strong will, Geraldine excelled as a switchboard operator for Southwestern Bell, demonstrating her dependability and dedication in all aspects of her life. Her commitment to excellence was evident not only in her career but also in her personal pursuits.

Geraldine had a passion for music and could often be found playing the piano. An interesting memory shared by those close to her is the time she missed the same note of the song “Pretty Shells,” showcasing her whimsical and human side. In addition to music, she found joy in cooking and gardening, hobbies that brought her immense happiness throughout her life.

One of Geraldine’s proudest accomplishments was being a devoted mother to her two sons, Jon and Guy. Her love for them knew no bounds, and she took great pride in their achievements and milestones.

In her educational journey, Geraldine graduated from Hugoton High School with flying colors, earning the title of class valedictorian. This achievement reflected her dedication to academics and served as a testament to her intellect and hard work.

Geraldine’s warm spirit and kind heart will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her. She touched the lives of many with her gentle demeanor and genuine compassion.

Geraldine Rowden is survived by her son Guy Rowden of Hugoton, KS; grandchildren Jeremy Rowden and wife Jennifer of Hagerstown, MD; Misty Rowden of Cherokee, OK; great-grandchildren Tyler, Cody, Amelia, and Lucas Rowden, Hannah Sylestine; great-great-grandchild Copelyn Sylestine; as well as numerous other family members and friends who will cherish her memory forever.

She was preceded in death by her husband Emery Rowden, son Jon Rowden, and brothers Ernest (Dutch) Moser, Jim Moser, and Earl Moser.

Visitation services to honor Geraldine’s life will be held at Robson Funeral Home in Hugoton on May 12th, from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM.

Graveside services will take place at Hugoton Cemetery, Hugoton, Kansas, on May 13th at 11:00 AM.
