Geraldine Brier

Geraldine Brier, 95, died Thursday, May 5, 2016 at Wheatridge Park Care Center in Liberal, KS.

She was born July 27, 1920 at Camden, MO, the daughter of David and Opal (Baty) Thomas.

She married Charles Brier on June 17, 1941 at Hooker, OK. He preceded her in death on November 30, 2001.

She and Charles lived in Chicago for five years before returning to Seward County where they farmed in the Woods community. She and her husband were custom cutters for more than 40 years, harvesting from Texas to Northern Montana until their retirement in 1991. She loved to play Bridge and always had a contagious smile. She was a long time member of the First Christian Church in Liberal.

She is survived by her sister in law- Josephine Hollingsworth of Liberal, KS; five nephews- Ed Brier of Liberal, KS; Bill Brier of Wichita, KS; Tom McAmis of Liberal, KS; Ron McAmis of Overland Park, KS; Scot Hollingsworth of Plant City, FL; two nieces- Peggy Thomas of Weatherford, TX and Judy Grojean of San Antonio, TX and their families.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, one brother- Jesse L Thomas, one sister- Christina (Thomas) Yunker Ruby.

Viewing will be Monday May 9, 2016 from 1:00 PM – 8:00 pm at Miller Mortuary.

Funeral Service will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday May 10, 2016 at First Christian Church with Pastor Terry Ford officiating. Burial will follow at the Liberal City Cemetery.

The family suggests memorials to either the First Christian Church or Angels for Animals in care of Miller Mortuary.
