Geraldine Berniece White

Geraldine Berniece White 100 died, Tuesday, February 19, 2013 at Garden Valley Retirement Village in Garden City, Kansas.

She was born May 24, 1912 in Protection, Kansas the daughter of William and Estella (Garten) Bratcher. She graduated from Protection High School in Protection, KS and received her Bachelor’s degree from Northwestern Oklahoma State University, Alva, OK.

She moved to Liberal in 1946. She was a Home Economics Teacher at Liberal High School for many years. In 2002 she moved to Garden City, KS.

She loved to travel with her husband, spending summers in the mountains of Gunnison, CO and winters in the desert of Mesa, AZ. Her lifelong passion for education was an encouragement to her entire family.

She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Order of the Eastern Star.

On May 24, 1946 she married Donald White in Liberal, Kansas. He died November 26, 2003.

Survivors include.

Sister Maxine Clark Jones Garden City, Kansas

Son in law Mingo Maturey Overland Park, Kansas

Grandchildren Craig (Overland Park, Kansas), Kevin (Springfield, Missouri), and Scott Maturey. (Moore, Oklahoma)

Preceded in death by her parents, husband, daughter Lana Susan Maturey and brothers Felton and Orville Bratcher.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 am Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Brenneman Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. David Randall presiding. Burial will take place at Restlawn Cemetery.

Visitation time will be held from 2 to 8pm Friday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
