Gerald (Jerry) Klein

Gerald (Jerry) Klein, age 67, of Ulysses, Kansas died Saturday, November 10, 2012 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. He was born April 21, 1945 in New England, North Dakota, the son of Edward Jr. and Clara (Johnson) Klein.
Jerry was a lifetime farmer. He moved to Ulysses in 1965 and married Joyce Bruntzel on September 21, 1968 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Ulysses. Jerry served as a Sergeant in the United States Army. While stationed at Fort Carson, Colorado he was an artillery instructor. Jerry enjoyed going hunting, snow skiing, playing cards, flea marketing, and collecting cast iron toys. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, and supporting his kids and grandkids in all their endeavors. Jerry served on the Farm Bureau Board and was a member of the Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79.
He is survived by his wife, Joyce, of the home; son, Derek Klein of Ulysses, Kansas; daughter, Lexy Klein of Ulysses, Kansas, sisters, Darlene Freize of Bismarck, North Dakota, Joyce Hoffman of Grand Forks, North Dakota; four grandchildren, Brady Klein, Brianna Klein, Emilio Saenz, Alyssia Garza; and great-grandson, Sean Klein.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Don Klein; daughter, Teri Jo Klein; and son, Troy Kelly Klein on August 4, 2011.
Funeral service will be held Thursday, November 15, 2012 at 10:00 AM at Oasis Church in Ulysses, Kansas with Pastor Kris Humphrey and Pastor Leland Jackson officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery with military rites conducted by Dexter D. Harbour American Legion Post #79. Friends may call Wednesday, November 14, 2012 from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses.
