Gerald A. (Jerry) Mansell, age 78, passed away early Saturday morning, December 18, 2021, at the Kansas Soldiers Home, Fort Dodge, Kansas.
He was born November 16, 1943, at Plentywood, Montana, the son of K.C. and Lena (Labbate) Mansell. As a young boy he attended school in Russville, Arkansas. After his granduation, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, serving in Viet Nam from 1963-1971. Upon his discharge, he began working in jet maintenance for several years. He later went to work for National Beef in Liberal, retiring after twentytwo years of service in 2000. After his retirement, he worked as a truck driver for several years.
He enjoyed woodworking, model cars, collecting hats, and spending time with his family and friends.
On November 14, 1998, he married Betty J. Amerin at Lofland, Nevada. She precedes him in death on October 12, 2021.
He is survived by a son, Gerald Sinclair Mansell of Liberal, Kansas; three stepdaughters, Rachel Valerdi of Cornith, Texas, Katie Papay of Meade, Kansas, and Amy Piersall of Follett, Texas; a brother, Clayton Mansell of Liberal, Kansas; two sisters, Jeanette B. McMann of Auburn, California, and Teresa May Curry of Kansas City, Kansas; nine grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his wife; a stepson, Kelly Holmes, Jr.; and his parents.
Memorial services will be held at a later date as cremation has taken place. Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade, has been entrusted with arrangements.
