George Earnest Koehler, age 91, passed away Wednesday morning, January 17, 2018, at the Lone Tree Retirement Center, Meade, Kansas.
He was born April 7, 1926, at Adams, Oklahoma, the son of Earnest and Martha Koehler. As a young boy he attended school in the Hooker and Turpin, Oklahoma area. After his schooling, he joined the United States Army Air Corps in 1946 during World War II. After his discharge, he began his career in ranching, working for several feed yards and ranches including the XIT Ranch.
He attended the Emmanuel Mennonite Church of Meade. He enjoyed reading and spending time with his family and friends.
He was saved and baptized in January, 2005.
On March 19, 1955, he married Emma Yack. She passed away on August 15, 1988. On September 18, 2005, he married Alma Wiens at the Church of the Nazarene in Meade. She survives.
Other survivors include two sisters, Ellen Williamson and husband LeRoy of Canyon, Texas, and Ruth Mikles of Turpin, Oklahoma.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, January 20, 2018, at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Interment will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, rural Hooker, Oklahoma.
The family would welcome memorials to the Emmanuel Mennonite Church in care of the funeral home.
