Genevieve “Jan” Gloria Tregellas

Genevieve “Jan” Gloria Tregellas, age 67, of Elkhart, Kansas died June 19, 2015 at home in Elkhart, Kansas. She was born March 23, 1948 in El Pueblo, New Mexico the daughter of David and Susie (Ortiz) Llewellyn.

She graduated from Liberal High School in 1966. Jan married Dennis Tregellas on April 9, 1966. In 1966, she began taking care of children in her home. For over forty years she poured her love into generations of children who lived in Elkhart. “Miss Jan” will be remembered dearly by countless children for many years to come. The last several years of her life she continued impacting the lives of children at Sunday school and Children’s Church at the First Church of God in Elkhart. She also greatly enjoyed camping with her family and was an avid birdwatcher.

Survivors include her husband, Dennis; son, Steve Lee Tregellas of Elkhart, Kansas; daughter, Tammie Denise Boykin and husband Talley Boykin of Baldwin, Louisiana; sisters, Linda Ellis of Northridge, California, Bertha Cordova of Sequin, Texas; Violet Rathke of Phoenix, Arizona, June Stoll of Meade, Kansas, and Nellie Lynn of Phoenix, Arizona; brother, Samuel Llewellyn of Phoenix, Arizona; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Genevieve is preceded in death by her father, David in 1999 and mother, Susie in 2015; brothers, Charles and David; and nieces, Tina Cordova and Shannon Weaver.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, June 27, 2015 at the First Church of God in Elkhart, Kansas with Pastor Terrell Giddens officiating. Inurnment will follow at Elkhart Cemetery in Elkhart.

Memorial funds will go to the Children of Promise program in Malawi, Southern Africa, to rebuild sponsored children’s damaged or lost homes during the floods earlier this year.
