Genevieve “Genny” Anderson

Genevieve “Genny” Anderson, age 88, of Ulysses, Kansas died Tuesday, March 21, 2017, at Pioneer Manor in Hugoton, Kansas. She was born April 18, 1928, in Woods County, Oklahoma, the daughter of Theodore and Ova (Campbell) Mantz.

Genny graduated from Hardtner High School in 1946 and was a CNA. She married Dale Anderson on May 25, 1947, in Medicine Lodge, Kansas. They moved to Ulysses in 1949. Genny was the secretary for the First United Methodist Church during the 1960’s. In 1985, Genny and Dale moved to Iuka, Kansas where she lived until 2014 when she moved back to Ulysses after Dale died in April. She lived in Park View Assisted Living in Ulysses until moving to Pioneer Manor the last year and a half. Genny was a member of the First United Methodist Church, United Methodist Women, HDU, and a long-time member and past president of ESA. She enjoyed golfing, traveling, needlepoint, playing the piano, watching western movies, and was an avid reader.

She is survived by three sons, Terry Anderson and wife Lana of Ulysses, Kansas, Jeff Anderson and wife Lorrie of Cardwell, Montana, Dennis Anderson and wife Jeri of Liberal, Kansas; eight grandchildren, Laurie Fisher, JoAnna Greene, Mike Anderson, Chad Anderson, Ryan Anderson, Casey Shaffer, Drew Anderson, and Kaylee Loeffelholt, and spouses; four step-grandchildren, and 26 great-grandchildren. 

Genny is preceded in death by her parents; husband, Dale in 2014; two sisters; one brother; and grandson, Eric Anderson.

Funeral service will be Monday, March 27, 2017, at 10:00 AM at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn and Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Graveside service will be Monday, March 27, 2017, at 3:00 PM at Hardtner Cemetery in Hardtner, Kansas. Friends may call on Sunday, March 26, 2017, from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church, Shelton Memorial Christian Church, or Grant County Gives in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W.
