Gayle Lamb

Gayle C. Lamb, age 71, of Johnson, Kansas died Friday, March 11, 2016 at Bob Wilson Memorial Hospital in Ulysses, Kansas. She was born January 14, 1945 in Clarion, Iowa the daughter of Robert and Doris (Powers) Trainer.

Gayle grew up in Fort Dodge, Iowa and graduated from Fort Dodge High School in 1963. She then joined the United Sates Army and was Honorably Discharged after two years of service. Gayle married Michael Prine and they had four children, Toby, Heather, Shelley and Nikki. Gayle married Jerold “Jerry” L. Lamb on October 11, 1979 in Dodge City, Kansas. Gayle graduated from Dodge City Community College Nursing Program in 1994 and became a Registered Nurse. She worked at the Memorial Living Center in Johnson, Kansas as the Director of Nursing, retiring in 2014, but continued to help as needed.

She is survived by her children, Toby Prine and wife Jenny of Hays, Kansas, Heather Waldron and husband Kent of Johnson, Kansas, Shelley Walton and husband Jason of Johnson, Kansas, Nikki Esquibel and husband Charlie of Dodge City, Kansas, Eddie Lamb and wife Jamie of Des Moines, Iowa, and Paul Lamb and wife Missy of Tonganoxie, Kansas; fourteen grandchildren and two great-grandchildren; her mother, Doris Trainer of Fort Dodge, Iowa; one brother, Todd Trainer and wife Mary of Eagan, Minnesota; two sisters, Sondra Thorson of Fort Dodge, Iowa, and Bobbie Turpen and husband Larry of Council Bluffs, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her father, Robert Trainer; husband, Jerry in 2014; and brother-in-law, Doug Thorson.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Fields Memorial Wesleyan Church in Johnson, Kansas with Pastor Kurt Rovenstine officiating. Graveside service will be at 11:00 AM on Monday, March 21, 2016 at Oak Hill Cemetery in Lawrence, Kansas with Military Rites conducted by Kansas Military Funeral Honor Guard. Friends may call from 2:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, March 18, 2016 at Garnand Funeral Home in Johnson.
