Gary L. Sams

Gary L. Sams, age 78, died Monday, July 5, 2021, at Family Health and Rehabilitation in Wichita Kansas. He was born October 29, 1942, in Perry, Oklahoma, the son of Lloyd and Livona (Stratton) Sams.

Gary owned and operated Gary’s Body Shop for over 45 years. He enjoyed building street rods and had been published in numerous publications. Gary also enjoyed spending his free time fishing and skiing. He had been married to Debbie Brown and Audra Heimberg.

Gary is survived by his son, Cody Sams of Ulysses; daughter, Reva Pool and husband Bryce of Kaw Lake, Oklahoma; and four grandchildren, Baylor Pool; Kilea Sams, Austin Sams, and their mother, Danielle Biddle; and Zalee Roe and her mother, Jenny Roe.

Gary is preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Livona Sams; and sisters, Rosemary Sperry, Maxine Anderson, and Delores Woodrum.

Visitation is 12:00 PM until 4:00 PM on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Cremation to follow with memorial service at 2:00 PM on Friday, July 16, 2021, at the First United Methodist Church in Ulysses with Reverend Todd Guinn officiating. Inurnment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery. The memorial service will be live streamed on Garnand Funeral Home Facebook page.
