UPDATE: Gary Douglas Jacobs

Gary Douglas Jacobs, 65, of Wood River, Illinois passed away November 27, 2018 at his home.

Gary was born September 14, 1953 in Hugoton, Kansas, the son of Bobby Dean and Lola Jean Witt Jacobs.

He went to school in Hooker, Oklahoma and a short time in Calhoun, Missouri. Gary graduated from Hooker High School with the Class of 1972. After graduation he enlisted in the U.S. Army and received his honorable discharge.

Gary was united in marriage to Debra Griggs. They lived in Hooker and Gary work at the Straight Gas Plant and later was relocated to Ellsworth, Kansas working in the oil and gas industry working in five states.

He moved to Granite City, Illinois where he worked in construction. He enjoyed his work as a painter. He was a fan of hunting, fishing and all outdoors life.

He is preceded in death by his father, Bobby, his grandparents and his brother, Cary, brothers in law, Jeff Yowell and Bryan Mathis

Gary is survived by his two daughters, Chayla Brock and her husband Stewart of England, Haley Watson and her husband Paris of San Antonio, Texas; his mother, Lola Jacobs of Hooker, Oklahoma; four sisters, Elaine and Mark Hill of Hooker, Oklahoma, Yvonne Mathis of Stillwater, Oklahoma, Mira & Mike Maskill of Kansas City, Missouri and Barbara Yowell of Hugoton, Kansas; seven grandchildren, Ryan Johnson, Bradley Johnson, Brendon Lee Brock, Emily Brock, Brayden Watson, Sydney Watson, Reese Watson.

Graveside services will be at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2018 at the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Craig Denslow officiating.

Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
