Gary A. (Dur) Walker

Gary A. (Dur) Walker was on this earth 79 years, 6 months, and 23 days, passing away at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
He was born at home in Liberal on 20th November 1935 to Edgar Easterly (Buss) Walker and Hazel L. (Scarbrough) Walker of Hugoton, Kansas.
He graduated from Hugoton HS and attended Northwestern University in Alva, Oklahoma for two years. Gary had attended the Primitive Baptist Church in Perryton, Texas. He worked as a Meter Reader for Mesa Petroleum. With being a Cherokee of the Wolf Clan he loved
hearing about our heritage. While serving as a Staff Sargent in the United States Air Force during the Korean Conflict he would talk about how mischievous he and his buddy’s would get pulling practical jokes. Gary was a man of many words with this came high intellect as if he were a dictionary with never giving a direct yes or no became a paragraph answer. At the
young age of 13, Gary was the 1st. Marble Playing Champion in the State of Kansas.
Gary is survived by his son-Jeremy Walker of Kansas City, Missouri; two daughters, Nikki
Walker of Liberal, Kansas, Shanna Walker of Wichita, Kansas; two sisters, Rochelle K. Scott
of Winfield, Kansas, Gayle Noreen Walker of Dighton, Kansas; three grandsons, two
granddaughters and one step-grandson, nieces, nephews, and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife – Janice Joan Dimmitt, brother – Leland (Lee)
A. Walker.
Memorial Services will be held on 20th Saturday 2015, 1:00pm at Miller Mortuary, Liberal,
Kansas, with Brother Don Martin officiating.
Memorials are suggested to the American Cancer Society in care of Miller Mortuary PO Box
826, Liberal, Kansas 67905-0826.
There will be no viewing as cremation has been taken place.
