Garold Jarvis: UPDATE

Garold W. Jarvis, age 81, of Wichita, KS formerly of Ulysses, Kansas died Thursday, June 27, 2013 at his home in Wichita, KS He was born July 28, 1931 in Southern Grant County, KS the son of E. Wayne and Reba D. (Davis) Jarvis.

Garold grew up south of Ulysses and graduated in 1948 from Grant County Rural High School. He was a lifelong farmer and worked with oil and gas leases for Kirkman Oil. He was a member and Elder of Grace Lutheran Church, Ulysses, KS, was active in Jaycee’s, and was a Private Pilot. Garold moved to Wichita, KS in 2010 to be near his family.

Garold married Marilou Frazier on May 5, 1950 in Ulysses, Kansas, She preceded him in death on July 26, 1990.

Survivors include one son Verlan Jarvis, two daughters Roxana L. Miller, and Cathryn L. Jarvis all of Wichita, KS; and one sister Donna L. Giles of Clinton, OK. Eight grandchildren, ten great-grandchildren, and ten nieces and nephews.

Garold is also preceded in death by his parents, one daughter Brenda Jolene Jarvis, one granddaughter Rebecca Reeves and one brother Kenneth Jarvis.

Funeral service will held on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, 10:00 a.m. at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Janet Hernandez officiating. Burial will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery , Ulysses, KS. Friends may call on Tuesday, July 2, 2013 from 2:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Garnand Funeral Home, Ulysses, KS. Memorial contributions may be given to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital or Ascension Lutheran Church, Maple Campus, Wichita, KS both in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant, Ulysses, Kansas 67880.
