Gail J. Gillespie, 60, died Saturday, Sept. 19, 2015 at University of Colorado Hospital in Denver, Colo.
She was born July 21, 1955 to William & Joyce (Jones) Sullivan in Ulysses.
She married Roger Gillespie on Aug. 5, 1977 in Clayton, N.M. He survives.
She was a life-long learner, attended college at Garden City Community College, Oklahoma Panhandle State University, Eastern Arizona College and Fort Hays State University. She earned her Bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University in 1979 and her Master’s degree from Fort Hay’s State University in 1986.
She worked at High Plains Education Cooperative in Ulysses, Kansas from 1982 to the present. She worked as a Gifted Facilitator for 19 years before becoming an Assistant Director for HPEC in 2001. She assumed the HPEC Director position in 2011.
She was a member of Kansas Association of Special Education Administrators (KASEA) and the Kansas Gifted and Talented Association.
Survivors also include her father, William R. Sullivan and wife, Alice, El Paso, Texas; sons, Seth Gillespie, Hugoton, and Nathan Gillespie, Ulysses; brother, William R. Sullivan II MD and wife Beth, Sierra Vista, Ariz.; three sisters: Kate Sullivan, El Paso, Texas, Kelly Mathis and husband, Jody, Hereford, Ariz. and Keri Mull and husband, David, Plainview, Texas; three grandchildren: Cody Gillespie, Caden Gillespie and Natalie Gillespie; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in the death by her mother; and son, Chay Scott Gillespie.
• Memorial services will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 26, 2015 at the First Christian Church in Hugoton with Pastors Heath Kelley and Larry Bradford presiding
Burial will take place at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton.
Friends may sign the register from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
