Freddie Lee McBee: UPDATE

Freddie Lee McBee, 62, passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at his home in Felt, Oklahoma. He was born on September 14, 1950 in Beaver, Oklahoma to Robert and Sarah (Zeek) McBee. Grew up and attended school in Hooker, Oklahoma where he graduated in 1968 and was very active in basketball and track.
He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Viet Nam Era from 1968 to 1972. After his service in the U.S. Army he worked in the oil fields in Western Oklahoma , Kansas and Texas. He later worked as a lineman for several electric companies for many years. He retired in 2007 due to health issues.
He was a member of the Baptist Church in Hooker, OK. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and gardening. He was an avid sports fan. When he was 33 years old he challenged his 16 year old niece, Lori, to a foot race and won by his nose length only.
He was a great story teller, some true and some not. He and Beri worked hard every year in the garden and shared the bountiful rewards with others.
He is survived by his companion of 20 years, Beri Campbell, of the home in Felt, OK; His daughter and son-in-law, Shauney and Gilbert Martinez, Hooker, OK.; His son and daughter-in-law: Kevin and Shantel McBee, Amarillo, TX.; 6 grandchildren; one brother, Bob McBee, Alvardo, TX.; two sisters, Sally and Larry Hoeme, Ft. Cobb, OK., Rena McBee, Texhoma, OK.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Robert McBee and Sarah Scoggins. Step mother, Hazel McBee and step father, Jesse Scoggins.
Graveside services will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, August 20, 2013 at the Hooker Cemetery with Chris Hedges of the First Christian Church in Texhoma, Ok. officiating.
