Filiberto Arias

Filiberto Arias, age 70, of Moscow, Kansas, died Thursday, March 31, 2022, at Kansas Heart Hospital in Wichita, Kansas. He was born December 18, 1951, in Mexico City, Mexico, the son of David and Jovita (Contreras) Arias.

Filiberto grew up in Mexico City and moved to Chihuahua after marrying his wife, Elva Mariñelarena. While living in Mexico, Filiberto delivered product for a printing company. In September 1995, they moved to Hugoton, Kansas. Filiberto worked for Great Plains Gas Compression as a pipeline manufacturer. He had also worked for a custom harvester and was a forklift driver. Filiberto enjoyed building things and loved to play the guitar and drums. He treasured the time he spent playing with his grandchildren.

Filiberto is survived by his wife, Elva of the home; son, Azarael Arias of Russellville, Arkansas; daughters, Priscila Sarai Cortes of Georgia, and Yared Kleffman of Hugoton; siblings, Jorge Arias, Blanca Arias, Luis Arias, Rosa Arias, Porfirio Arias, Elizabeth Arias, and Sara Arias; and eight grandchildren.

Filiberto is preceded in death by his parents, David and Jovita Arias; and brother, David Arias.

Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM on Thursday, April 7, 2022, at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel, Hugoton, KS with Pastor George Devora and Pastor Juan Milton Velasco officiating. Interment will follow at the Hugoton Cemetery in Hugoton. Visitation is Wednesday, April 6, 2022, from 10:00 AM until 8:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home, 920 E. 11th St. Hugoton.
