Ezra “E.C.” C King III

Ezra “E.C.” C King III, age 71, died Saturday, June 27, 2020, at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas. He was born September 20, 1948 in Garden City, Kansas, the son of Ezra C. King Jr. and Geneva Lou King.
E.C. graduated from Liberal High School and went on to receive his Associates Degree from Seward County Community College. E.C. served in the Army from 1969 to 1970 in Vietnam. He received the National Defense Service Medal, the Vietnam Service Medal with the Silver Service Star, and the Bronze Star. He served in the Battle of Mole City. After the Military, E.C. met and later married his first wife, Vickie DeCamp, on February 22, 1972. They had one son together, Kelly D. King. Sadly, Vickie passed away peacefully in their home on November 26, 2014. E.C. later married his second wife, Betty Kay Moon Darnell, on March 16, 2019 in Lubbock, Texas. His wife, Betty, survives him.
E.C. was self – employed in financial services.
He was the beloved father of son, Kelly D. King and wife Leah King; bonus son’s, Matthew (Brandi) Darnell and Nick (Christina) Darnell; and bonus daughter’s, Christina (Scott) Caldwell and Stephanie (Justin) Nairn.
E.C. was the proud Grandfather of 11 bonus Grandchildren, Christian Caldwell, Gabe Caldwell, Jocelyn Caldwell, Jewel Brookhart Biles, Ryan Darnell, Izzy Darnell, Kaytlynn Nairn, Devin Nairn, Rylee Darnell, Emma Darnell, and Chloe Darnell.
E.C. is survived by his siblings, Charlie King, Carrie Jeannie Rose; and sister – in – love, Jeri (Dave) Rice.
E.C. is preceded in death by his first wife, Vickie King; and parents, Ezra and Geneva King.
Visitation will be Wednesday, July 1, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Brenneman Hornung Family Funeral Home in Liberal, Kansas. The Funeral Service will be Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 10:30 AM at the Lone Star Friends Church in Hugoton, Kansas.
