Evelyn Jane Lambert, 92, of Satanta, Kansas went to be with her Lord and Savior May 26, 2018 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

Evelyn was born August 5, 1925 at Hooker, Oklahoma to Horatio and Pearl Craft Hearne. She attended Friendship country school at Mouser, Oklahoma. The family lived at Mouser until her mother passed away when she was nine years old.

The family then moved into Hooker until her father passed away when she was ten years old.

Evelyn was then raised by her grandparents, C.T. and Edith Craft. She attended school in Hooker graduating with the Class of 1943. While in high school Evelyn worked at Voiles Drugstore.

She was united in marriage to Vern Lamont Lambert on June 26, 1943 in Hooker, Oklahoma. They resided in Hooker until Vern “Jell” went into the Navy. Evelyn joined him in San Diego in August of 1943. While there Evelyn worked in a defense plant, “Reeves Rubber Plant” in San Clemente as a “Rosie The Riveter”. Upon Jells deployment, Evelyn returned to Hooker to live.

On September 23, 1945 Grace Janet was born in Beaver, Oklahoma.

Vern “Jell” was reported missing in action in November 1945. He was found safe and returned to Hooker in 1946.

Evelyn has been a member of the First Baptist Church in Hooker, Oklahoma since she was nine years old.

During her young adult years, she taught Sunday School, Vacation Bible School and GA’s. She, Ramona Duer and Lucille Cavis helped start BBWGA at the First Baptist Church in Hooker.

On April 20, 1950 a son, Richie J. was born at Beaver, Oklahoma.

Evelyn, besides being a homemaker, helped her husband with the bookwork for their business, Lambert Plumbing.

Evelyn moved to Satanta, Kansas in February of 2012 to be near her family.

She was a member of the Hooker Legion Auxillary.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Jell Lambert, her parents and grandparents, a brother, Alfred C. Hearne, great grandson, Jason Lambert and many aunts and uncles.

Survivors include her two children, Grace Janet Lawson and husband Hershel and Rickie J. Lambert and wife Nancy all of Satanta; four grandchildren, John Lawson, Josh Lambert, Rachel Lee and Matthew Lambert; seven great grandchildren, Macie Lawson, Nathaniel Lee, Madeline Lee, Logan Lambert, Jayson Lambert, Peyton Lambert and Kaleston Lambert Rieth; niece Cathy Woodward and friend Carol of Ponca City, Oklahoma, nephew William Hearne and wife Karen of Rapid City, South Dakota, nephews Loran Lambert and wife Beulah and Doyle Lambert and wife Marion of Burlington, Colorado.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, May 30, 2018 at the First Baptist Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Pastors Rod Klingsick and Mike McReynolds officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorials are suggested to the Hooker Cemetery Fund or the Dudley Township Library in Satanta and may be left at Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma, 73945.
