Eva Pauline Hampton

Eva Pauline Hampton, age 89, died Tuesday morning, January 21, 2014 in her home near Disney , Oklahoma . She was born May 11, 1924 in Mitchell , Kansas , the daughter of Elmer and Mary (Byers) Kratzer.

Eva spent some of her childhood in Dodge City , Kansas and moved with her family to Ulysses, Kansas where she graduated from high school. She married William Lloyd Hampton on July 25, 1942 in Dodge City , Kansas at the home of and by her grandfather Rev. Harvey Byers.

Eva and Lloyd made their home in Ulysses, Kansas where they were members of the First United Methodist Church . She was a homemaker and mother to her three children and an active member in her community spending time working with the Boy and Girl Scouts, local garden club and many church and civic activities. She enjoyed family events and square dancing with Lloyd. In May of 2000, she retired to her home near Grand Lake , Oklahoma .

She is survived by two sons, Jesse Dean Hampton of Overland Park , Kansas , and Clarence Earl Hampton of Eucha , Oklahoma ; one daughter, Connie Lockard of Shawnee , Kansas ; two sisters, Louise Behee of Hewitt , Texas , and Mary Ellen Cullen of College Station , Texas ; as well as many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Elmer and Mary Kratzer; her husband, William Lloyd Hampton; three sisters, Dorothy Stout, Betty Harmon and Roberta Herman; and two infant daughters, Judith and Carolyn.

Funeral service will be held at 10:00 AM on Monday, February 10, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home Chapel in Ulysses, Kansas with Reverend Kelly Gindlesberger officiating. Interment will follow at the Ulysses Cemetery in Ulysses, Kansas . Friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with family present, on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses, Kansas. Memorial contributions may be given to the First United Methodist Church of Ulysses in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave , Ulysses , KS 67880 .
