Eunice Ethel Thornton went to be with the Lord on February 26, 2017, in Meade, Kansas.
She was born to Ben and Virgie Pinson on November 22, 1922, at Rockhouse, Pike County, Kentucky.
Eunice was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters, Edith Ramey and Mary Lou Pauley, and a foster brother, Lloyd Maynard.
She is survived by her husband Willard E. (Bill) Thornton, daughter, Shawna Karl (Dennis) Las Vegas, NV, son, Shawn Thornton (Tanja) Meade, KS, grandsons, Anthony Duncan (Donabelle) Las Vegas, NV, Christopher Duncan Las Vegas, NV, Cody Thornton (Kelly) Meade, KS, granddaughter, Brandi Parizek (Richard) Shawnee, KS, seven great-grandkids, and many nieces and nephews.
Eunice’s life was filled with many adventures. After graduation from Belfry High School, she moved to Ypsilanti, Michigan, where she worked on the B-24 Bombers as a “Rosie the Rivitor.” After WWII she earned a cosmetology degree and moved to Riverside, California, and met her husband to be. They were married on February 16, 1952, and began their worldly travels as a military family while raising their two children and guiding them to a Christian life.
Eunice enjoyed being actively involved in church. She constantly invited people she met to attend worship with her. She will be deeply missed by her friends and family.
Visitation will be on Friday, March 3, 2017, from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, March 4, 2017, at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade.
