Esther K. Brockert, age 95, passed away Friday morning, September 24, 2021, at the Meade District Hospital, Meade, Kansas.
She was born January 12, 1926, at Meade, the daughter of John W. and Katharina T. (Classen) Cornelson. As a young girl, she attended school in Meade. On October 9, 1946, she married Fred Brockert at Meade. Over the years, she worked at Ideal Food from 1960-1969, Walls Food Liner from 1973-1977, J.M. McDonald from 1979-1980, Dillons from 1984-1995, and at Wal-Mart from 1997-2005.
She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene. She enjoyed reading her bible on a daily basis, sewing, circle words, and spending time with her family and friends.
She is survived by a son-in-law, Don Bayer of Ponca City, Oklahoma; two grandchildren, Denice Ann Kolb and husband Travis, and Troy Lynn Bayer, all of Ponca City, Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews, including a niece, Tonnia Doran of Forgan, Oklahoma.
She is preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Patricia Sue Bayer; eight brothers, Jacob, John, Pete, Abram, George, Isaac, Henry, and Anthony; and eight sisters, Mary, Katherine, Helen, Mary, Agnes, Elizabeth, Ann, and Gertrude.
Memorial services will be held at 2:30 a.m. Saturday, October 16, 2021, at the Church of the Nazarene, Meade. Cremation has taken place. Inurnment will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, October 18, 2021, at the Valley View Cemetery, Garden City, Kansas.
The family would welcome memorials to the American Heart Association in care of Fidler-Orme-Bachman Mortuary, Meade.
