Esther Hofferber

Esther A. Hofferber, 96, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away February 21, 2017 at Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Oklahoma.
Esther, the daughter of Wesley and Liddy Sittner Ukens, was born April 20, 1920 on the farm south of Hooker, Oklahoma.
She attended the first through third grades at St. Johns Lutheran School and fourth to eighth grade at Fairview School, south of Hooker. She graduated on her birthday in 1934.
Esther did house cleaning for many families in Guymon, Liberal and Hooker.
On August 17, 1944 at St. Johns Lutheran Church, she was united in marriage to John H. Hofferber. They made their home in Hooker, and John passed away March 14, 1975.
Esther was a member of St. Johns Lutheran Church in Hooker, where she was involved in the Ladies Aid, the Altar Circle, and the Condolence Committee. She enjoyed quilting, especially with her friends of the Ladies Aid. She also enjoyed crocheting, cooking, especially bierocks, and loved her children and grandchildren.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, John, five brothers, Leonard, Henry, Fred, Walter, and Emil, and two step sons, Albert Hofferber and Donald Hofferber.
Family members include her six sons, Larry and Vicki Hofferber of Hooker, Oklahoma, Gerald and Therese Hofferber of Hooker, Oklahoma, Mike Hofferber of Hooker, Oklahoma, Steve and Teresa Hofferber of Collinsville, Oklahoma, Leslie Hofferber of Amarillo, Texas, and Wesley and Audrey Hofferber of Texhoma, Oklahoma; eighteen grandchildren, twenty-seven great grandchildren, and several great great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Friday, February 24, 2017 at St. Johns Lutheran Church with Rev. Conrad Oehlert officiating. Interment will be in the Lutheran Cemetery directed by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
