Ernest Raymond Peitz, 72, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021, in Hooker, Oklahoma.
Ernest was born December 12, 1948, the son of Jerome and Eleanor Pfannenstiel Peitz in Garden City, Kansas. He graduated from Liberal High School and went on to become a United States Marine, proudly serving his country for four years. Upon returning home from his service, he worked for the railroad.
He retired from Restlawn Cemetery near Liberal, Kansas in 2015.
Ernest was united in marriage to Shannon Bishop on January 20, 1973, in Liberal, Kansas. Ernest raised two children, one son, Brian and one daughter, Rebecca.
He enjoyed hanging out with his grandkids and teaching them his tricks and treads, fishing, gardening, and riding carnival rides. He also loved to outrun cops in his 69 Charger in his younger years.
He is survived by his wife Shannon of Hooker, Oklahoma, his son, Brian Peitz and wife Misty of Hugoton, Kansas; daughter, Rebecca Culwell and husband Colby of Hooker, Oklahoma; four grandchildren, Brent Peitz, Dallas Long and husband Kaiden, Tracy Peitz and Katie Culwell; five sisters, Anita Mitchel and husband Harlen, Janet Ledford and husband Gaylor, Cathy Morlen and husband Sam, Geraldine Norton and husband Jim, Mary Ann Peitz; one brother, Steve Peitz and wife Donna and numerous nieces and nephews.
Preceding him in death are his parents, Jerome and Eleanor Peitz and his brother, Leroy and his sister, Patricia.
A funeral mass will be said Saturday, December 11, 2021, at 11:00 a.m. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Hooker, Oklahoma. Roberts Brothers Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
