Elizabeth “Liz” Heidbreder

Former Liberal resident, G. Elizabeth " Lizz " Heidbreder passed away on Friday, February 25, 2001, surrounded by her family. She was born on October 23 , 1919 to Swedish immigrants Carl W. & Gerda N. Janson in Des Moines, IA ,
the youngest of six children.
After high school graduation, Lizz moved to Kansas City to work. She
was introduced to her future husband, Walter "Buzz" Heidbreder by family friends. They wed in 1942 and were married for sixty-seven years. Lizz & Buzz moved to Liberal, KS in 1950, raised their family and were very involved in the community, and retired to Mesa, AZ in 1988. Lizz was involved
in the First Christian Church , Beta Sigma Phi , Daughters of the Nile ,
PEO Sisterhood , and was a lifetime member of the Liberal PTA.
Lizz was preceded in death by her husband Walter "Buzz" Heidbreder,
her son Dr. Jan Heidbreder, and her infant son. She is survived by her
daughter, Dr. Beth Heidbreder, Rio Rancho, NM ; her daughter-in-law Dianne Heidbreder of Castle Rock, CO ; grandsons, Brent & Andrew Poley and their wives; granddaughters Amy Johnson and her husband; Kristin Heidbreder;
six great-grandchildren, sister-in-law Arlene Janson, Des Moines, IA;
many nieces & nephews.
A memorial service for Lizz will be held on Saturday, March 12, 2011, at
11:00 A.M. at the First Christian Church, Liberal, KS, with Pastor Terry Ford
officiating. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Heidbreder
Memorial Fund, c/o First Christian Church, 922 N Jordan, Liberal, KS, 67901 .
Miller Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
