Elden Elmer Friesen

Elden Elmer Friesen, age 85, of Hooker passed away Monday, August 11, 2014 at the Good Samaritan nursing home in Liberal KS.
He was born August 18, 1928 on the farm located between Hooker & Adams to DB & Eva (Franz) Friesen. He attended Adams School graduating in 1946. After graduation he went to college at N.W. Alva 1 semester and then transferred to OPSU in Goodwill for 1 semester.
Elden was united in marriage to Ruby Mae Blehm in Hooker on August 8, 1948. They moved to a farm near the Hugoton KS. area where he was employed in farming. He then got a job with Halliburton and was employed with them for 15 years. While living in Hugoton their sons Larry (1950), and Michael (1954) were born. Michael passed away on Father’s Day in 1959. Elden was transferred by Halliburton to Liberal Ks., later that year, where they lived until 1967. They moved back to Hooker and he took over the family farm until 1998. While living in Liberal their daughter Diana (1962) was borne. In 1999 he was hired by Texas County District 1 where he worked until retiring in July 2014 due to failing health.
He also enjoyed being the minister of the Community Christian Church from the mid 1980’s until early 2000. These were some of his most happy years. He loved teaching and talking about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Preceding him in death are his father and mother, father and mother-in-law Henry and Alice Blehm, wife Ruby, sons Larry and Michael, one sister Herwanna, one brother-in-law Leland Friesen, sisters and brothers-in-law, Juanita (Blehm) and Scotty Schroff, Jackie (Blehm) and Jim Keaton, and Nelda (Blehm) Gustin.
Survivors include daughter Diana Yates and husband Mike of Dickinson ND, sisters Josephine (Friesen) and husband Jim Mitchell of Albuquerque NM, Alforetta Friesen of Bethany Oklahoma and sister-in-law Delores (Blehm) Tharp of Gulf Breeze, Florida.
Memorial services will be held Saturday, August 23rd at 10:30 a.m. at the Gospel of Grace Church in Hooker with Charles Mendenhall officiating. Arrangements conducted by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Hooker, Oklahoma.
