Elaine Doris Kreie, age 75, of Ulysses, Kansas, died Friday, December 25, 2020, at Ascension Via Christi St. Francis Hospital in Wichita, Kansas, following a car accident. She was born March 30, 1945, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of John and Dorothy (Moeder) Kirmer. 

 

Elaine grew up in Ellinwood, where she graduated from Ellinwood High School and, following her high school graduation, attended Addley Hale Secretarial School. She married William “Bill” Kreie on June 27, 1964. Elaine worked at Sublette Feeders and then at Satanta High School for a number of years. After moving to Ulysses, she worked at Farm Bureau Insurance, State Farm Insurance, and then Sullivan Insurance. After retiring from insurance, she helped take care of D&L Storage. Elaine was a board member of the Ulysses Housing Authority and she volunteered at the Grant County Voting Poll. Her most treasured job was caring for her family. Together, she and her husband Bill enjoyed spending time with their dog, Dude, visiting family, and they were both active members of Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses. 

 

Elaine is survived by her daughters, Laura Love and husband John of Kearney, Nebraska; Donna Davis of Flower Mound, Texas, one grandchild, Nic Davis also of Flower Mound; sister Pat Herter and husband Jim of McPherson, Kansas; and several nieces and nephews. 

 

Elaine is preceded in death by her parents; and her husband, Bill, who also passed away on December 25.

 

Vigil and Rosary Service will be Tuesday, December 29, 2020, at 6:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 10:00 AM at Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church in Ulysses, Kansas, with Reverend Aneesh Parappanattu, MSFS officiating. A Graveside Service will follow at Stafford Cemetery in Stafford, Kansas, on Wednesday, December 30, 2020, at 3:00 PM. Funeral Mass may be viewed live on the Garnand Funeral Home Facebook Page. Visitation is Tuesday, December 29, 2020, from 10:00 AM until 6:00 PM at Garnand Funeral Home in Ulysses. Memorial contributions may be given to Mary, Queen of Peace Catholic Church or Ulysses Animal Shelter in care of Garnand Funeral Home, 405 W. Grant Ave, Ulysses, KS  67880.
