Elaine Carolyn Newlon, 72, died Wednesday at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice in Wichita, KS.
She was born April 23, 1942 in Liberal, KS, the daughter of Vergil and Mildred (Reiss) Roehr. She graduated from Kismet High School and attended Southwestern College in Winfield, KS and Omaha Business School in Omaha, Nebraska. Following completion of her business course, she went to New York to work as a teletypist for Western Union for 3 months. Upon returning, she became a bank teller at First National Bank in Liberal.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church and United Methodist Women of Liberal.
On June 13, 1965, she married John Newlon in Plains, KS. He survives.

2 Brothers: Norman Roehr and wife Jan, Kismet, KS
Larry Roehr and wife Roma Ann, Kismet, KS
3 Grandchildren – Chase Clinkingbeard ; Austin and Megan Newlon
Funeral Service will be held at 2:00 pm Monday, Dec. 22nd at the First United Methodist Church, Liberal with Rev. David Randall presiding. Burial will be held at Liberal Cemetery.
Visitation time will be 1-5 pm Saturday and 1-5 pm Sunday with the family present to greet friends from 2 – 4 pm Sunday at Brenneman Funeral Home.
