Eileen Howell: UPDATE

Eileen Howell, 93, of Hooker, Oklahoma passed away October 2, 2012 at Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.

Velda Eileen was born September 22, 1919, south of Tyrone in Texas County, Oklahoma the daughter of Elvas and Lula McAhren Woodward. She attended Tyrone schools until her eleventh grade when the family moved to Washburn, Missouri. She graduated from Washburn High School with the Class of 1937.

She then attended University of Missouri in Columbia for 3 1/2 years when WWII started. She worked for Beech Aircraft in Wichita during the war.

She was united in marriage to Willard Monroe “Bill” Howell on April 18, 1942 in Wichita, Kansas. Bill passed away December 3, 2003.

Eileen and Bill lived in many locations during the war then moved NW of Hooker living in the Straight Community. In 1976 they move to Hooker.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Hooker and enjoyed working puzzles.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Bill, and her grandson James Dietrick; two step grandchildren, Danisa and Katelyn

Survivors include her son, Tillman Howell and his wife Mary of Guymon, Oklahoma; her daughter, Jerretta Dietrick and her husband Bob of Tyrone; one brother, W.H. and Jean Woodward of Dallas, Texas; two grandchildren, Christie Warner and husband Doug and Kellie Holcomb and husband Danny; three step grandchildren, Sami McLemore and husband Patrick, David Kelley Jr. and wife Janisa and Chad Kelley; twelve great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, October 6, 2012 at the United Methodist Church in Hooker, Oklahoma with Rev. Les Bussell officiating. Interment will be in the Hooker Cemetery direct by Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Inc. of Hooker, Oklahoma.

Memorials are suggested to the Hooker Cemetery Fund or the Hooker Ambulance Association and may be left at the Roberts Brothers Funeral Home, Box 745, Hooker, Oklahoma 73945.
